Venture VT100 Trouble Shooting Guide

You'll need the Venture Player App to use the Venture VT100

On your Apple iOS or Android device connect to your home WiFi Network and head on over to your respective APP Store (App Store - iOS, GooglePlay Store - Android) and search “Venture Player” to download our APP.

Once downloaded and installed, open the Venture Player and press the “Add Device” button. Your Venture VT100 will show on the list within the App, select it and enter your WiFi Networks password that your device is currently connected to and confirm by pressing the “Connect” button within the App.

Alternatively to connect your Venture VT100 to your home WiFi Network press and hold the “M” Button for 3 seconds (Enabling WPS Mode) and you will hear a voice confirming the Venture VT100 is now searching for WiFi networks, Press “Next” on your mobile device to move on to Logging in with Alexa.

Do not operate the speaker while in the process of connecting to WiFi. Once the Venture VT100 has connected to the WiFi network successfully you’ll hear a voice confirmation.

Adding more speakers to the network and make a group:

Press the “+” icon on the device list page in the Venture Player App and follow the instructions on page 6 “Connecting your Venture Speaker to your WiFi Network”.

To use Multiroom your Venture VT100 speakers must be connected to your home WiFi network.

Alternatively to connect your Venture VT100 to your home WiFi Network press and hold the “M” Button for 3 seconds (Enabling WPS Mode) and you will hear a voice confirming the Venture VT100 is now searching for WiFi networks, Press “Next” on your mobile device to move on to Logging in with Alexa.

Multiroom Mode:

Select one Venture VT100 and make it a Master speaker and select other Venture VT100 speakers from the list to join it.

To do this simply press and hold the device icon and drag it towards another device to pair them together.

Whatever is played via the Master speaker will be mirrored across all speakers associated with the Master speaker

Using Bluetooth:

Press the “M” button on the top of the Venture VT100 speaker to enter Bluetooth mode.

The status light ring will turn blue and a voice will confirm “Bluetooth Mode” - Your device is now ready to connect to via your mobile devices Bluetooth connection settings page, this is indicated by the flashing blue status light ring on the Venture VT100 speaker.

Once connected a voice confirmation will sound letting you know the devices are paired successfully, The status light ring will also turn solid blue.

Using Multiroom in Bluetooth Mode and AUX Mode:

When multiple speakers are joined to the same WiFi network (up to 8 Venture VT100s can be joined in one network) the Bluetooth and AUX functionality is available via the Master speaker. Anything played via Bluetooth or AUX on the Master speaker will be mirrored across the rest of the Multiroom group.

Music continues with DLNA without a router:

DNLA (Android)
Follow the steps to turn on your Venture VT100 speaker on page 4. The speaker itself creates a WiFi network you can connect to and use as a access point (AP).

In your mobile device’s WiFi network connection settings, search for the WiFi network “Venture ####” (#### represents a unique identification code to help keep track of multiple speakers when on the same network)and connect to it.

Open any DLNA enabled music App and start playing some music. Press on the DNLA sharing icon to find devices, choosing the Venture VT100 speaker to cast your playing music to the speaker.

Plug in a 3.5mm audio cable into the AUX In jack on the rear of the Venture VT100 speaker and the other end into your media playing device.

The Venture VT100 will automatically switch to “Auxiliary Mode” indicated by the voice confirmation and green status light ring.

After a WiFi connection has been made you will see a device list within the Venture Player App. Select the Venture VT100 from the list and press “Next” in the top right of the screen.

You’ll be presented with an option to sign into Amazon’s Alexa using your Amazon account. Enter your details, If you don’t already have an Amazon account please create one now to use the Alexa service.

Now that you’ve connected your Amazon account to the Alexa service you can start using Alexa on the Venture VT100 right away. To “wake” Alexa and make her start listening simply say “Alexa...” Followed by your question, instruction or request.

Try this: “Alexa, what is the weather?”

Frequently Asked Questions


Cause:

  • Original music is distorted
  • The volume is too high

Solution:

  • Check the original music file/source you’re playing making sure it’s a decent bitrate/quality
  • Reduce the volume

Cause:

  • Your home router might not be turned on
  • Your WiFi network name (Also known as a SSID) or the password has changed

Solution:

  • Power on your router or if it’s already on, try restarting it and following the connection process again.
  • Double check the WiFi network name and password on the back of your router or if you’ve changed it log on to your routers home screen and check it there. For example, if you have BT internet simply type 192.168.1.254 into your address bar and log on to your router to check your home WiFi settings.


Other Causes and Solutions:

  • The Venture is too far away
    Try moving the Venture closer to your Wi-Fi router. Also, moving the Venture away from walls and interference sources like microwaves and baby monitors may help.
  • Your Wi-Fi password is incorrect
    If your Wi-Fi network is password protected, make sure you enter the right password. Your Wi-Fi password is case-sensitive.
  • Router issues
    The issue may lie with your Wi-Fi router. If this is the case, try the following:

    Reboot your router

    Turn off your router for 30 seconds, then turn it back on. Be careful, as this will disconnect any devices you have connected to your Wi-Fi.

    Reboot your router, letting the Venture reconnect first Turn off your router for 30 seconds and turn off Wi-Fi on all your connected devices. Then, turn the router back on and let the Venture connect to your Wi-Fi. Once the Venture is connected, reconnect all other devices to your Wi-Fi.

Cause:

The Venture isn't paired with your device's Bluetooth so you are unable to stream music from your device to the Venture or control it with your device.

Solution:

  • Check you have connected to the Venture by looking in the Venture Player app for more information.
  • Make sure your device supports Bluetooth connections and that the Bluetooth setting for your device is on.
  • Make sure your device is within 30 feet of the Venture or they may not be able to communicate.

Cause:

  • Your amazon account information may be incorrect
  • You’ve yet to sign up for an Amazon account

Solution:

  • Double check your username and password for Amazon.co.uk before continuing
  • Head on over to Amazon to create an account before trying to log in to the Alexa service.

Cause:

The Venture has been playing music at a high volume for a very long time

Solution:

It is normal for the Venture to feel warm if it’s been playing music at a high volume over several hours, to cool the Venture back down simply reduce the volume or stop playing music for a little while.

Cause:

No power is getting to the Venture

Solution:

  • Check that the supplied DC power in cable is plugged into your mains and into the back of the Venture.
  • Try an alternative DC power in plug for the venture – As long as it is the same output: 9V 1300mA.

Cause:

Your Ventures are in multi-room mode

Solution:

Your Venture when in multi-room mode will only work with Alexa via the Master speaker, and the Salve speakers just mimic what is played via the Master in this mode. To allow Alexa to work on all Venture’s simply ungroup your Ventures in the Venture Player App.

Cause:

Alexa has been put into privacy mode/muted

Solution:

Tap the Mute button on the top of your Venture and this will turn off privacy mode and allow Alexa to hear you again.

Modes:

  • Cyan: WiFi Mode
  • Green: Auxiliary mode
  • Blue: Bluetooth mode

When speaking to Alexa:

  • Cyan (Solid Colour): Listening
  • Blue & Cyan (Alternating Colours): Thinking
  • Blue & Green (Alternating Colours): Talking
  • Orange (Flashing): Exception
  • Red (Solid): Mic Muted / Privacy Mode
  • Yellow (Slowly Pulsing): Notification
  • Light Key

To add a new device, open the Alexa app, navigate to Smart Home and tap Discover devices under the Your Devices section.

If you've already added your devices but Alexa cannot seem to connect to them, there are at least two possible solutions.

Check the command you're using to tell Alexa what you want it to do. The commands can vary a lot between different devices and depend on what you have named the devices as well. They can be very specific commands, and small differences in the phrasing or names of the devices can confuse Alexa.

Some smart-home devices have trouble staying connected due to software problems, crowded networks, being always on or other issues. A simple power cycle of the connected devices will usually fix any connectivity problems you're having.

If that doesn't fix the issue, try rebooting the speaker as well as removing the device and adding it once more from scratch.

If you have any noisy appliances, move the Venture away from those to reduce the ambient noise level, This also is the case for if the Venture is placed near a TV or Radio.

Cause:

  • Alexa currently does not support 3rd party devices for its voice control of Spotify,
    this however will be updated over time and is currently in development.
  • You don’t have Spotify Premium.

Solution:

  • Make sure you have Spotify Premium on your account to play music via Spotify Connect.
  • In the spotify App select the Venture from the lost of devices available to stream music to via spotify connect.
